Abu Dhabi is the largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates and its capital. The city has many impressive landmark projects, many of which the Arup office has played a vital role in.
High profile projects include the new headquarters for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, recognisable by its unique, honeycomb shaped shading system, the new Midfield Terminal Complex in Abu Dhabi which is destined to become one of the major transport hubs for the region, and the Yas Marina Hotel, with its awe-inspiring grid shell which links the two sections of the hotel and comes alive at night with its Arup designed, programmable lighting system.
Arup is a founding member of the Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC). Members of the Gulf team are also involved in the World Green Buildings Council and are instrumental in EGBC partnerships with local government departments such as the Urban Planning Council (UPC) and Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA).
