NHS Confederation annual conference 2010

11 Jun 2010

Arup is proud to support the UK's NHS Confederation annual conference and exhibition for the third consecutive year.

This will be the first major health management conference after the general election, bringing together senior health leaders and the whole NHS. It is being held against a backdrop of very tight public finances and the most challenging targets for improving quality and efficiency the NHS has ever been asked to meet.

Arup has worked with the NHS for a number of years and the firm's healthcare business leaders will be present at the conference to outline views and experience in relation to what Arup considers are four crucial areas for the health industry over the coming months:

  • Smarter estates strategies – making the most efficient use of your estate, releasing capital, reducing operating costs, and development of new facilities.
  • Achieving change – meeting the quality and productivity challenge – what does this mean for leadership development, adapting skills and behaviours, succession planning and implementing new models of care?
  • Leaner and greener healthcare – understanding your carbon footprint today and capturing quality and productivity gains.
  • The ageing population – are you meeting the challenges of End of Life Care services and Dementia?

The 2010 conference programme is structured into plenary sessions for all delegates and strand sessions for smaller groups of delegates. Each strand will explore in detail the overall theme of local leadership and national service.

Stephen Pollard, leader of Arup's healthcare business in the UK, will chair the Sustainable Healthcare session on Wednesday 23 June from 14:15 – 15:30.

Arup will host a drinks reception on its stand (A49) on Thursday 24 June from 15:25 – 16:25. The reception is open to a wide audience and will be an informal environment at the end of what should be an informative and interesting day.
