Once completed the tidal lagoon will generate enough electricity to power over 150,000 homes, which equates to more than Swansea’s annual domestic use. Developer Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) views Swansea Bay as the first in a network of six lagoons around the country.

Arup will provide a variety of services on the project, including Structural and Geotechnical design, Project Management, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) engineering, Minor Environmental Planning and Marine Engineering Design.

We are delighted to have been appointed such an innovative development. The global tidal industry is entering an exciting phase and we’re at the very forefront of its development here in Swansea. Our involvement recognises Arup’s multi-disciplinary expertise and world-class technical excellence."Henrietta Ridgeon, Project Director

Earlier this year, General Electric and Andritz Hydro were named as preferred bidders to supply turbines for the proposed project. China Harbour Engineering Company will undertake the marine works.
