Starting your application
In the Americas region, our graduate recruitment takes place from September through the end of January, with some of our positions closing as early as October. We encourage applying as early as possible to ensure the best opportunity of being considered for the role.
All candidates interested in opportunities will be provided with a fair and equitable opportunity to be considered without bias or discrimination. To ensure this, we follow the steps listed when making our hiring decisions for our graduate roles.

Online application
All candidates must apply online and complete a job specific application.

Resume review
All resumes that meet the minimum qualifications outlined on the job posting are reviewed and assessed to determine a shortlist of the best candidates for further consideration.

Pre-screen
Candidates who pass the resume review will be shortlisted and invited to complete the pre-screening step and assessment, which includes a Pre-recorded Video Interview (PRVI).

Interviews
After passing the pre-screen, candidates will be set up for a video interview with the hiring manager for the role.

Offer
Candidates who successful pass the interview stage will receive a verbal offer, followed by written confirmation of their employment terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Arup takes recent graduates from a broad range of degree subjects. The main elements we look for are relevant course content and practical experience, leadership, and an interest in the business area. All roles are listed on our website with required criteria for the specific position.
Recruiting typically begins in the fall for graduate positions. As we are recruiting for individual roles, the deadline will depend on the specific role that you are interested in. If a specific deadline applies, it will be noted on the job description, however, we encourage you to get your application in early during the recruiting season as we receive multiple applications for each position!
For most of our roles we do not operate on an application deadline, but we do process applications as we receive them. Therefore, we strongly advise candidates to apply as soon as possible to ensure their application is considered.
There is no simple answer to this question. Arup employs people from all different degrees and backgrounds. If you think you fit in with the culture of the firm and are passionate about making a difference, then there may be a role for you!

We look for the best graduates, not only in engineering but also in a wide range of planning, management and consulting roles!
Most of our graduates start work in the spring or summer, after the year following recruitment. However, we do take on graduates throughout the year and will try our best to accommodate your needs where possible. This may depend on your manager’s requirements and the projects you will be working on.
We generally ask for a sound technical background in a relevant degree. Requirements may vary slightly from job to job, so refer to the job description for the role you are interested in to see if you meet the requirements.
Yes, Arup accepts applications from candidates who require Employment Sponsorship and will work with our Immigration attorneys, if appropriate, to determine eligibility. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the country of application.

Training and professional development of our graduates is very important to us at Arup. Everyone who joins us as a graduate should join us with the aim of becoming accredited with the most appropriate professional body and you will receive relevant tuition reimbursement to pursue this. There is a comprehensive portfolio of training available to enhance the knowledge, skills and outlook of all staff members. However, most of your learning will be done through on-the-job learning and exposure to real clients from the day you join.
You may choose to develop your career within your chosen business area (ie, discipline). However, it is also possible to move into a different discipline, as long as you have suitable experience and we have a vacancy in that area.
