Andy is the Geotechnical Leader for our Australasia region. 

He has over 30 years of consulting experience in the fields of geotechnical and geo-seismic engineering working in the NZ, USA, Malaysian, Australian, Pacific and UK markets. As Excellence Leader in NZ, he champions Arup’s culture of excellence in the workplace.

His diverse industry experience includes highway, rail, port, aviation, bridge, building, underground, green field, coastal reclamation, water, arts and culture, dam remediation, and rugged terrain projects.

As a licensed professional geotechnical engineer in NZ and the USA (California), Andy leads designs and applies his ground and seismic engineering expertise as a subject matter expert on local, regional and global projects. Current industry engagements include working with contractors, consultants and academia on expert panels tasked with updating NZ piling specifications and developing a code of practice for the seismic design of ground-governed structures (including soil structures and slopes) to manage cost in high seismicity regions.
