Carlos Merino is an Associate Director based in Arup's Madrid office, where he leads the geotechnics practice.
With 30 years of experience, Carlos works on projects across Europe, Latin America, and beyond, providing geotechnical, structural and risk management advice on multidisciplinary projects.
During his 20-years in California, Carlos specialised in seismic design in his studies at U.C. Berkeley and is Seismic Skills Leader for Europe. Some of his more notable projects include his work as a design director and construction Engineer of Record for the Zaha Hadid Pavilion Bridge in Zaragoza and Chillida Mount of Tindaya in Spain, and geotechnical engineering discipline lead for social projects such as Peru Reconstruction with Changes.
