Paul Sloman

Arup Fellow

Director

  • Australasia Building Services Leader

Paul leads the Property, Science, Industry and Technology, and Social Infrastructure business at Arup. Since joining Arup in 1988 he has worked on and led a wide range of projects in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia, and more recently in Australasia.

He has specific experience in headquarter offices, commercial and mixed use developments, educational, fine arts and performing arts, and aviation buildings.

As an active designer he has developed a particular interest in the built form and the use of passive engineering techniques to control the internal environment, and energy efficient buildings, as such sustainable outcomes are a common theme within his work. Working almost exclusively on integrated design projects he is interested in developing strong working relationships with his key Clients through understanding and reacting to their specific business needs, bringing to them the best that Arup, as a global organisation, has to offer.

Paul’s particular skills include design leadership, building teams, leading multi-disciplinary design teams, promoting good design through organisational efficiency, and all aspects of building physics, including thermal modelling and strategic planning of building form and facades, conventional and low energy heating, cooling and ventilation systems and controls, and the organisation, co-ordination and integration of structure and services systems.
