This report identifies how the circular economy can benefit Arup, our clients, and the built environment sector.

We reflect on the economic, social and environmental advantages of employing circular principles and we propose strategies to progress our offering, deliver new services, engage a wider network of stakeholders and unlock opportunities for all parties in the value chain.

We also consider how circular economy practices can be scaled up from the individual component or asset level for city, regional, and even global economies. We believe the circular economy can enable Arup to tackle the complex nature of the built environment through multidisciplinary working, and that it can drive a shift towards more sustainable forms of economic growth, urban life and value creation.

As the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s knowledge partner for the built environment we are sharing knowledge and collaborating with our CE100 partners to accelerate the shift to a circular economy.
