Local governments around the world are making ambitious declarations, acknowledging a Climate Emergency and committing to stretching emissions reduction targets and climate adaptation objectives. Recognising this monumental leap forward in terms of political commitment to addressing climate change, we developed this short guidance to support local governments (and other public or private organisations) with planning and delivering tangible climate action.
The guidance sets out nine key stages for climate action planning, while emphasising above all that we need to begin now, and act fast, to reach a net zero emissions and climate-safe world.
