The ‘Arup Design Programme’ is a creative, engaging and inspiring work experience programme focused on giving students insight into the day-to-day life of engineers, designers and consultants working within the built and natural environment.
The week is aimed at 14-17-year-old students with over 250 young people participating in the programme since 2010 across Arup’s Leeds and Manchester offices. Since 2022, the programme has been run as a wider North West & Yorkshire cohort, bringing in Arup’s Sheffield, Liverpool and Whitehaven offices.
Arup members work closely with individuals and groups, to challenge and advise students and share their knowledge first-hand; whilst giving autonomy and building confidence by encouraging them to assess the potential impact of their decision making. This hands-on and immersive experience allows students to apply the knowledge they gain to practice engineering and design solutions for a real-world scenario.
Why the Arup Design Programme?
