On 9 May, Arup signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guangzhou Bay Area Planning & Design Survey Institute Ltd. at the relocation ceremony of Guangzhou Nansha Service Centre in Hong Kong.

The MoU marks a major milestone in enhancing collaboration and resource sharing between both parties for the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Arup and the Institute will continue to promote the ‘bringing in & going global’ strategy and explore opportunities across various fields, working together to drive urban development and integration of the GBA.

Arup, with its East Asia headquarters in Hong Kong, has been active in Greater China for more than 45 years, providing a full spectrum of design, engineering, planning and consulting services. The firm has contributed to various cross-boundary facilities, helping to forge closer ties in the region. As one of the first companies in Hong Kong to receive the practice certificate from Guangdong Province, Arup can directly engage in urban design and planning projects across the GBA. Guangzhou Bay Area Planning & Design Survey Institute Ltd. is a subsidiary of Guangzhou Urban Planning & Design Survey Research Institute – one of Mainland China’s leading planning institutes that provides a wide range of planning and engineering services. The collaboration marks a new chapter in GBA planning, with a focus on advancing sustainable development capabilities.
