Renewable energy production is a focus for the Australian Government and industry as the country moves away from fossil fuels towards a clean energy future.

Our team of Transaction Services specialists provided a significant contribution toward the acquisition of Australian renewable energy business WIRSOL Energy (WIRSOL) by Gentari, a Malaysian clean energy solutions provider – the company’s maiden entry into Australia’s renewable energy market.

Arup supported Gentari, with due diligence on the acquisition. Our transaction services specialists provided significant contribution to the transaction, while our team from Australia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia formed a strong foundation to provide technical expertise and insights that assisted Gentari in this successful acquisition. This project embodies our firm’s core commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable development.

The acquisition of WIRSOL Energy is a milestone in the path towards Gentari achieving its target of more than 30GW in renewable energy capacity by 2030. WIRSOL Energy is a prime renewable energy solutions provider in Australia, with integrated solar PV and BESS (battery energy storage system) capability comprising 422 MW in operating capacity and 765 MW potential capacity in projects under development.

This addition to Gentari’s portfolio will enable us to continue our efforts in building capacity for delivering integrated sustainable energy solutions, to help customers make the journey to net zero emissions.
