Handling sewage flows between Makati South and Taguig North areas, the LKK Wastewater Treatment Plant is the largest of its kind in Manila. As the site is adjacent to the sensitive location of the national heroes cemetery, a layout that integrates the plant with the surrounding area with minimal environmental impact is preferred.

Arup has managed the project on behalf of the client from the formulation of the contract documents, through the tender period and evaluation to construction and commissioning on site. 

The layout of the plant which complements the cemetery provides client with the opportunity to enhance the value of constructing a new plant within the densely populated urban area of Metro Manila. The large-scale construction of the plant represents a significant increase in the area’s wastewater treatment capacity and a step change in the size of plants being constructed and operated.
