Soon to adorn Dubai’s skyline, Muraba Veil will be a 380-metre skyscraper which combines traditional elements with modern design, to harmonise with local culture. Just 22.5m wide, the slender skyscraper, will offer 131 units distributed across 73 storeys.
Requiring technical advice, Muraba Properties contacted Arup for guidance on the technical design of this super slender skyscraper. The goal of the Dubai-based developer was straightforward: to deliver a residential skyscraper on time and with high-quality solutions.
Experts in tall building design, Arup brought in global engineering, architecture, and acoustics know-how to ensure design feasibility and functionality.
Arup’s technical direction has significantly advanced the project definition, allowing for the early identification of potential challenges. Our teams across architecture, engineering and acoustics offered a comprehensive array of solutions and operational scenarios to enhance the project’s resilience and adaptability to changing technical and market conditions.
Ensuring quality: the technical advisor's role
Arup has acted as the technical advisor to Muraba Properties, RCR Arquitectes and WSP since the concept phase, providing expert guidance on the design, materials, and engineering solutions. This support encompasses essential acoustic insulation to mitigate noise from the nearby main highway, and adaptations to withstand the rigorous desert climate, ensuring high durability standards. For example, the skyscraper will feature an external mesh and deep balconies to protect users from direct sun radiation.
As technical advisor, we helped the client make informed decisions throughout each phase of the project development. From initial feasibility assessments to reviewing architectural and structural plans, we evaluated risks and anticipated potential issues.
Arup’s advice has helped us reduce project risks every day. Their global expertise combined with local knowledge of skyscraper design, has kept the project on
track and running efficiently, even when facing tough challenges. Our partnership with Arup, with the passion, ownership and positive attitude of the entire
team, has constantly added value to the project and has given us peace of mind, knowing we’re in safe hands

Seamless coordination for quality project delivery
Alongside our role as technical advisor, Arup’s architecture team is working closely with RCR Arquitectes on the technical development of design proposals, refining structural details, specifying materials and construction methods, to ensure the concept design is feasible and brings the client’s vision to life.
Operating from Arup’s office in Madrid and the client’s site in Dubai, we have united efforts across the developer Muraba Properties, RCR architects, and WSP engineering teams to deliver a top-tier quality project.

Acoustics consulting to isolate noise from traffic
The residential skyscraper will be located adjacent to Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai’s main transport artery, with a significant exposure to traffic noise.
Arup’s acoustics team used our Experience Lab to demonstrate how the materials used in the external terrace soffit areas mitigate the sound of traffic.
This space allowed the client and our partners to step inside a virtual representation of the building and understand how these solutions will impact the user experience before they are implemented.
