This issue of the Arup Journal begins with an exploration of roof and façade design for Lille’s TGV station, a hub for the Paris-London and Paris-Brussels TGV lines.

Moving to the UK, we look at the design for the Tees Barrage Bridge in Stockon-on-Tees. Designed by Arup, the structure for this eight-span tubular steel arch bridge, was conceived as the visual focus of the new tidal barrage which is a key feature in the regeneration of a derelict former engineering works.

We also explore work for the Government Office for London, who asked us to make recommendations for protecting and improving a 50km stretch of the River Thames, from Hampton Court to Greenwich.

Other articles in this issue include a look at the Western Harbour Crossing in Hong Kong, a new road tunnel between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, where we are overseeing the work of the contractors and design consultants, the Pavilion in Blackpool and St. Mary’s Car Park in Sunderland.
