In this third issue of The Arup Journal for 1996, we begin by looking at our work for the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. Teams in New York and London provided structural design, environmental control and lighting services expertise.

Remaining in the USA, we hear from our LA team, who worked to deliver the Swatch Olympic Pavilion, with the team carrying out the structural and building services design within six months from initial concept to opening.

We look at our acoustic design for the new Speech, Language & Hearing Centre in London where we had to achieve very high levels of acoustic controls to fulfil the special needs of the teaching spaces.

At London's Heathrow Airport, we examine the ideas behind the design of the new 1.4km baggage tunnel connecting Terminals 1 and 4. As lead design consultant, Arup developed and implemented the design of the dedicated tunnel and the automated baggage handling installation.
