Aviation’s energy transition will be complex and require investment. There is a need to identify, develop and integrate sustainable energy into current operating procedures, adhere to ambitious local, state, national, international and industry targets.

Navigating this complexity, and finding a balance between improved operational energy savings versus the still unsolved issues around aviation fuels, is undoubtedly a challenge. Arup is helping clients across the sector to chart a path through the regulatory, infrastructure, logistical and technological uncertainties. We work alongside airports to establish the kind of future energy and fuel infrastructure that is needed and by when, to de-risk and shape investment strategy.

Within the airport estate setting, our combined knowledge of airport operations and buildings, and energy infrastructure, means we are able to develop large scale carbon neutral energy plans that can address sustainability goals now.
